One day in Thua Thien Hue
If you want to have a nice trip, a carefully planned itinerary cannot be skipped. Below are a few of my suggestions for what you can do to have the most enjoyable trip in Huế.
- 6:00 AM: Usually, if you travel by bus or coach, you will arrive at this hour or probably sooner so take your time and have a rest in your hotel before you can start your day.
- 7:30 AM: This is a perfect time to have light breakfast with sticky rice (xôi). You can go to Đống Đa Street or Nhật Lệ Street to enjoy your little delicious dish or you can bring it with you and eat along the way while enjoying some beautiful sightseeings.
- 8:30 AM: It’s time to have a look at Perfume River and go along Trường Tiền Bridge. This will only take a little bit of your time so after finishing with your sightseeing, you can go to the other bank of the river where Huế Royal Palace is situated with other locations.
- 9:30 AM: After getting to the other bank, go to Lê Trực Street where there is Huế Museum of Royal Antiquities. I bet that you will have a good time here admiring those beautiful remains of an ancient civilization.
- 10:30 AM: Go to Hai Mươi Ba Tháng Tám (23rd August) Street to take a look at General Museum Complex.
- 11:30 AM: Have lunch. You can try some of Huế’s specialties such as Beef Noodle for your lunch. If you still feel hungry, you can try some more entremets and other dishes suggested in one of my previous posts of Huế.
- 12:30 PM: Start your trip to Huế Royal Palace (The Imperial Citadel). Since it is really magnificent so it can take your time a lot, maybe the whole day to actually visit every corner of the palace so take your time and visit the main ones first. (You will also be charged entrance fee)
- 6:00 PM: Return to your hotel, have a bath and get ready to hit the night streets.
- 7:30 PM: Have dinner. You can drop by some mussel rice restaurants suggested or eat in regular ones.
- 9:00 PM: Enjoy your nightlife on Nguyễn Đình Chiểu Street and join with the crowd, listen to live bands, go shopping for souvenirs, get your own portrait drawing and more.
- 10:30 PM: Head back to your hotel, get yourself a good night sleep and be ready for the next day.
