This has come at such a good time! We’re off to Vietnam in October – yay! Planning to do Halong Bay as well as get out to Trang An and Tam Coc but still haven’t sorted out where we are staying as a base in Hanoi – it’s all a bit overwhelming but this is a great overview – shall enjoy looking into this more. I love that you gave such a variety of options for hotels. I don’t htink I could ever do a hostel but a three or four star hotel is fun as long as they’ve got good reviews!

I’ve never stayed in a hostel before, and since I travel with my two young boys, I don’t know if I would. But they are great options for those on a budget. We tend to stay in the middle-tier hotels when we vacation. Not the cheap, sketchy motels, but not the ridiculously expensive ones either. Looks like there are great options here for all levels.
