CAO DAI TEMPLE AND CU CHI TUNNEL 1 DAY TOUR

Date: Daily group tour

Time: start 8.00 – return 19.00

Itinerary:

Start from Ho Chi Minh City and depart for Tay Ninh where the Cao Dai Great Temple is located. Stroll around the temple, which is regarded as one of the impressive architectural structures in South-East Asia. Maybe, the Cao Dai sect is strange to many people as it’s a special hybrid of Buddhism, Christianity, and Confucianism. At its entrance is the Left Eye of God, which is the Cao Dai religion’s symbol.

After seeing the scenery of the temple, you will attend the midday ceremony organized by the Cao Dai followers to learn about the religious rituals. Go to lunch at a local restaurant, and then be driven towards Cu Chi Tunnels. Be introduced to a short video which is also an overview of the Cu Chi’s history and Vietnamese endurance.

Start discovering some permitted areas of the tunnel system, which is seen as an underground village in Ho Chi Minh City. There are field hospitals, weapon factories, kitchen, command centers, storage facilities, and trap doors. This system was made by hand, which proved the Vietnamese’s intelligence and creativity in the Vietnam war. Enjoy cassava (the main food of Vietcong during the time of war) and sip tangy tea.

Return to Ho Chi Minh City and end your trip.

Cu Chi Motorbike Tour

(You can ride the motorbike/ scooter on your own, or our tour guide would do the job with you sitting behind)

Highlights
The trip to Cu Chi is a combination of culture and history. There you will see how the Vietnamese people resisted both the French colonization and the American invasion.

Itinerary
A one-day adventure tour by motorcycle to the famous Cu Chi Tunnels. The tour will depart from District One and head north-west out of the city. Along the way, you will see some amazing countryside views, rubber tree plantations, rice fields, and the occasional water buffalo.

Upon getting to the tunnels, you will explore this underground labyrinth of tunnels with our guide taking you to the original size entrance, crawling through the bottleneck and generally learn about what life and war were like for the Viet Cong who lived in these tunnels. The Cu Chi tunnels are a whopping 250km in size. The network, parts of which were several storeys deep, included countless trapdoors, constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapon factories, field hospitals, command centers, and kitchens. It promises to be an educational and unforgettable experience.

After Cu Chi, the tour stops at a nearby restaurant where beef is the main highlight. It is a good chance to explore local cuisines such as barbecue steak, fresh spring rolls with beef and a variety of mints, barbecued ribs with lemongrass, and beef hotpot. What could be better than sitting back, checking out some photos taken in the tunnels or the bike ride while waiting for your steak and enjoying an icy cold Saigon beer!

70 kilometers away from the center of Saigon, Cu Chi Tunnel is the highlight of the district. Bus, motorbike, taxi and boat are means of transportation for travelers to get there. Among them, bus is rated as a convenient and economical choice, whereas motorbike offers you unique chances to freely visit other places except from Cu Chi Tunnel such as Cu Chi Wildlife Rescue Station and orchards in Trung An ward. Notwithstanding, if you travel by bus or taxi, do not worry since you can also rent a motorbike in Cu Chi district.

Bus

Cu Chi Tunnel has two locations for tourism: Ben Duoc and Ben Dinh. Between them, Ben Duoc Tunnel is the more popular one. When reaching a bus station in Ho Chi Minh city, you should always be aware of which stop you are standing at because each bus has two opposite directions. Just feel free to ask the staff for instructions, or confirm whether you have got on the right bus with the driver or the ticket checker.

—

Motorbike

Renting a motorbike for a day to travel to every single corner in Cu Chi district is such an unforgettable experience. You may have difficulty searching for a complicated system of roads on google map. Nevertheless, mysterious things seem to be more attractive, don’t they? Remember to bring the driving license and the ID/passport for your convenience as well.

To Ben Duoc Tunnel:

Saigon Central Post Office – Le Duan street – Pasteur street – Tran Quoc Toan street – Nam Ky Khoi Nghia street – Nguyen Van Troi street – Hoang Van Thu street – Cong Hoa street – Truong Chinh street – An Suong intersection – national highway 22 – district 12 – Hoc Mon district – Cu Chi overpass – Nguyen Thi Ranh street – provincial highway 15 – Ben Duoc Tunnel

This kind of transportation provides travelers with a comfortable air-conditioning atmosphere throughout the trip. Notwithstanding, the price is quite high (600 000 vnd – 700 000 vnd) in comparison with bus or motorbike.

It is such a pity if you miss Cu Chi Tunnel, a famous tourist attraction of the world when discovering the maze of Ho Chi Minh city. Cu Chi Tunnel

Rated as one of the twelve most wonderful underground structures of the world by CNN in 2015, Cu Chi Tunnel must be included in your tour to Vietnam. You will have a chance to go down historic narrow tunnels (Ben Duoc and Ben Dinh), find out the life of soldiers in the stimulation area, as well as enjoy free ice tea and cassava root, a specialty of this land. On the other hand, there are a plenty of entertainment services attracting visitors such as paint shooting, 4D cinema, swimming pool, swan pedal boat, kayak, canoe, double bike, etc. Among them, paint shooting is the most favorite one as it is designed for you to involve in a real battle. One more noticeable thing is that you should go to Cu Chi Tunnel before 3:00 pm for a clear observance of the underground constructions.

Quán Vườn Cau - Nước mía sầu riêng & Củ mì hấp cốt dừa

Vuon Cau restaurant is such a popular stop for tourists traveling to Cu Chi district or Tay Ninh province. Two highlights here are Nước mía sầu riêng (Sugarcane juice with the flavor of durian) and Củ mì hấp cốt dừa (Cassava root steamed with coconut water). The prices are very cheap so that you can order as many dishes as you want. Nevertheless, a glass of sugarcane juice and a dish of cassava root are enough for each person in order not to get fed up with the sweet flavor.
